New Year at Ko-Phangan and Child care services.

Each year , about 60,000 guests come to celebrate the upcoming new year  in one of the biggest open air parties in Asia.We didn’t want to miss the chance to be a part of this and started to explore our options how to do it with a child. Taking Shai with us was out of the question,to many drunk people around, loud music etc..

Before coming here I heard that there are places on the Island called “Child Care” where your child can stay during the time parents are having fun. We found one of those places  close to our house , the place has been run by a Thai girl married to an European guy. She has an 4 year girl of her own , and looked like a person we can trust. Eventually we decided that Shail will stay there for 1 night. The place has a site ,in case anyone is interested http://koh-phangan-child-care.com.

So we left Shai around 21:00 at Night Child Care There were about 5 more kid’s so he didn’t stay alone there.

It took us about 30 minutes to get to Haad Rin . At 21:30 the place was full of people, who already started with celebration . Some people will rate Ko-Phangan as one of the best places to party in the world. We felt incredible energy and feel of happiness around us.

The beach is full of people. Each club has his own stage with his own music and other gimmicks to attract tourists.

The most distant and relaxed part of the beach, went there trying to take a shot of the party from distance. Every minute some one asked me if I’m taking pictures and suggested himself to be in the frame.Of course I was taking pictures,  which was obvious, I was standing with tripod. Smile

The fireworks were much more than I expected.

After spending there up to 01:30 , we went home , which was not an easy task considering the distance I had to drive on the motorbike and the condition of the people on the road.
Eventually we got home without any issues. We couldn’t take Shai in the middle of the night because  he and other kid’s were slipping. Eventually we woke up early morning and at 7:30 our son was with us .

I’ve posted more photos of the event on My Asia photo blog and Asia Photos Facebook Page

  1. It’s almost embarrassing for me to admit this, but even though I’ve been to Thailand several times I’ve yet to visit this very popular destination. It makes me realize how much I want to go there now – especially with your great photos here :)
