Hello,
I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a relatively new clinic that has opened on the main clinic in Ao Nang called ‘First Standard Clinic’ which has been ripping people off.
Last night my girlfriend cut her foot snorkeling. By the time we got back to Ao Nang it was quite late and we just wanted to get it looked at. The first pharmacy we went into they said that we should go to a clinic – we did.
She ended up having 16 stitches on a wound that at maximum needed 5 (even though they said 5 orignally, they proceeded to do 16 the moment they found out we had travel insurance). They used face stitches on a shallow wound and subsequently have ruined our holiday as over the next seven days we won’t be able to swim. This ended up costing us 9,000 THB.
We went next door today to change the wound at the Dr Somboon clinic. He was the one that told us the stitches were facial stitches and too thin to be used on a cut that actually needed 16 stitches. He bandaged her foot up for 200 THB and said at maximum we should have paid 500 THB yesterday.
First Standard Clinic overcharged us by 8,500 baht and after speaking to a few people in the area he has been doing this frequently. As a result of our mistake I would like to warn everyone about this place and that they should not go to it and go next door instead.
